Accounting Technician

Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC has an  immediate need for an Accounting Technician in our Belleville, Illinois location. The Accounting Technician will support aspects of finance and accounting for the company, mainly as they relate to billing, accounts payable and receivable, and project accounting.

Job Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Completes Daily Bank Reconciliation

  • Organizes, Codes, and Processes Accounts Payable

  • Records Accounts Receivable

  • Processes and Pays Expense Reports

  • Acts as the Vendor Liaison

  • Prepares monthly project invoicing for several departments

  • Records Construction Employee Time and Processes Payroll

  • Supports Construction Department with Bidding, Recording Daily Quantities, Reconciling Truck Tickets, etc. as needed

  • Assists with the monthly and year-end closing of the financial statements and files

  • Assists with annual overhead audit, periodic project audits and client audits

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Business

Professional Land Surveyor/Manager

Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC has an opening in our St. Paul, Minnesota office for a Professional Land Surveyor with approximately 10+ years of Professional Land Surveying experience. This exciting position will afford successful applicants the opportunity to develop and grow the Land Surveying Sector of this developing office location!

As a member of our team, you will manage and oversee a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying/civil engineering projects by directing survey plan preparation, conducting Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and topographic surveys, researching survey records, preparing and reviewing survey maps and drawings, performing quality control reviews, assisting with RFP responses and proposal development, and serving as a Project Manager by managing project cost estimates, schedules, and financials. 

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying from an accredited college/university.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of previous boundary and topographic surveying experience.

  • Professional registration in the State of Minnesota with the ability to obtain registration in additional states.

  • Strong knowledge of Public Land Survey System (PLSS) terminology and procedures, modern survey methods and survey devices, such as total stations, Global Positioning System (GPS), and data collectors.

  • Strong knowledge of legal aspects of boundary surveying, including laws, statues, and ordinances.

  • Perform field work for land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA and topography for various project types.

  • Exercise sound judgment in assessing common surveying and research-related situations, and use of effective approaches for choosing a course of action for developing appropriate solutions.

  • Ability to accurately prepare fee estimates for services.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to lead and/or participate in discussions during client consultations and project team meetings.

  • Ability to works in all weather conditions, and stand or walk for long periods.

  • Ability to carry up to 60 pounds of surveying equipment over rough and steep terrain.

Project Engineer/Project Manager

Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC has an opening in our St. Paul, Minnesota, or Belleville, Illinois, offices for a Professional Engineer with approximately 10+ years of highway and roadway design experience. Applicants should have a thorough understanding of Department of Transportation design policies and local municipality code requirements; effective management skills for which to plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of projects; and the ability to coordinate with other internal and/or external team members.

The successful candidate will plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate technical work on portions of major projects or in a total project of moderate scope. S/He will provide assistance to Team Leads in preparing current status information for internal reporting and for keeping clients informed on progress. The candidate should have a BS in Civil Engineering, PE license, the ability to secure PE licensure in other states, and 10+ years of progressively challenged design experience. 

The following duties are delegated responsibilities:

  • Prepare project scope, schedule, and fee for review by Team Lead.

  • Prepare design plans for projects s/he leads and/or the tasks assigned to him/her.

  • Prepare and process construction plans for approval.

  • Prepare supporting calculations, construction specifications, and permitting for residential and commercial projects in various jurisdictions.

  • Complete design calculations.

  • Research code requirements and design procedures manuals.

  • Verify design computations and plan detailing for conformance with codes, manuals, and design considerations.

  • Operate Microstation V8i, GeoPak, and various other software applications.

  • Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate.

  • Coordinate with other engineers, technicians, and administrative assistants during preliminary and final plan preparation for conformance to standards and code requirements.

  • Prepare draft correspondence, technical specifications, and reports.

  • Attend and participate in various client meetings with various local, transportation, and regulatory agencies, as appropriate.

  • Have good oral and written communication skills in order to lead and/or moderate meetings with interested parties and stakeholders.

  • Communicate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate to project.

  • Coordinate final design computations with review agencies.

  • Coordinate utility disposition on projects with involved public and private utility companies.

  • Prepare draft cost estimates, periodic reports covering construction activities, pay estimates, and data necessary to document acceptability of materials and quantities for final payment.

Construction Technician

Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC has an opening for multiple Construction Technicians for an Iowa Department of Transportation District 6 "On-Call" project. Projects under this contract will be primarily located in Cedar, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson, Johnson, Linn, and Scott counties in Iowa, and may include HMA paving, patching, grading, new bridge construction, bridge repair and overlay, PC paving, and pavement preservation. This project is anticipated to begin in the 2018 construction season, with the possibility of extending 2 additional seasons (through 2020).

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience providing constriction inspection and documentation

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Availability to work 40+ hours per week and overtime as necessary

  • Perform all work in a safe manner and with equitable treatment towards all
